When Phil Staunton, Head of Design at Innovate Product Design, felt frustrated that he could not find an appropriate library to download SolidWorks models in order to populate render scenes and showcase work, he decided to embark on a new business venture with his business partner, Alastair Swanwick. Together they have founded a new SolidWorks model exchange website called Cadooku, the aim of which is to offer the chance for users to quickly and simply buy or sell models. It also provides a potential revenue stream for small companies, freelancers or students struggling to cope with SolidWorks license fees.
“Since its UK launch in November 2009, Cadooku has received great feedback from designers and industry experts who use SolidWorks. It is quickly becoming the place to go for high quality SolidWorks models across a wide range of categories. We look forward to the next phase of growth as we prepare to launch it internationally,” says Phil Staunton.
